Very often Telstar and Willem II did not play against each other in Velsen-Zuid. Only lost three times this century and not once White Lions. You will hear from 7 p.m. on NH Radio whether this series will be extended tonight when Telstar takes on the leader of the first division.
With Willem II, Telstar, which is seventeenth, will meet a team in shape. The people from Tilburg are at the top in the second period and have recently replaced Roda JC as the leader of the first division. Yet the team of Belgian trainer Peter Maes made it two weeks ago an ugly slip in the away match against Jong Ajax (1-0). The North Hollanders Erik Schouten and Nick Doodeman are permanent fixtures at Willem II.
No Overtoom
Telstar won an away match for the first time this season last Friday and did so convincingly. Also thanks Zakaria Eddahchouri’s hat trick the Velsen residents won 4-1 against FC Den Bosch. One of the standouts, Tom Overtoom, will not be present tonight due to an injury. Thomas Oude Kotte is also missing. After almost three months, Ronald Koeman Jr. returns to the selection. The goalkeeper has recovered from his wrist injury and starts on the bench.
Before the match, the Schoonenberg sports park will celebrate the death of Ruud Geels. The former striker and twenty-time international started his professional career at Telstar and became top scorer in the Premier League no fewer than five times. After this tribute, referee Marc Nagtegaal whistles for the kick-off of Telstar – Willem II. The commentary for the match will be provided by Frank van der Meijden.
Young Ajax – TOP Oss
At De Toekomst sports park, numbers eighteen and twenty in the rankings face each other. Despite the low ranking, Jong Ajax is not doing that badly in the last matches. In addition to the surprising victory over Willem II, the youngsters of trainer Dave Vos achieved a draw against ADO Den Haag (0-0) and NAC Breda (1-1). In Kerkrade narrowly lost to Roda JC (2-1).
TOP Oss has had very little of it this season and has lost nine of the last ten competition matches. The ball starts rolling at 8 p.m. Reporter is Stephan Brandhorst.
Naturally, we will also keep you informed in NH Sport about other professional football matches, including those of Jong AZ. The Alkmaar promises are visiting Jong PSV. NH Sport is available from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Presentation: Robbert van den Heuvel.
