The Telstar players will have to descend 61 iconic steps again tonight. The White Lions visit VVV-Venlo, which plays its matches in De Koel stadium. Both teams want to end the year well. You can follow this live on the radio in the last NH Sport broadcast of this year.
Both Telstar and VVV-Venlo are not in the best shape. The Limburgers lost four of the last five matches (only a win against FC Dordrecht) and have therefore dropped to twelfth place in the first division. Telstar hasn’t been able to get it working for weeks. The 4-1 at FC Den Bosch therefore seems more like an incident than an actual turnaround.
Empty rag basket
Despite last week’s unpleasant defeat against FC Dordrecht (2-0 loss), there is a glimmer of hope on the horizon. The rag basket, which reached the number of ten players earlier this season, is emptying. Last week, Christos Giousis, Danzell Gravenberch, Yaël Liesdek and Youssel el Kachati returned to the match selection.
Telstar is number eighteen in the first division and the problem is clear: coach Mike Snoei’s team simply scores too little. With eighteen goals from nineteen matches, the Velsen team is not even one-on-one. In addition, the team is also too dependent on striker Zakaria Eddahchouri. The club’s top scorer accounts for half of the production with nine goals.
The NH Sport broadcast starts tonight at 7 p.m.; an hour later the kick-off is for VVV-Venlo – Telstar. Reporters are Menno Schilder and Frank van der Meijden. Your presenter is Robbert van den Heuvel.
