Iraq today condemned US retaliatory strikes against pro-Iranian armed groups on Iraqi soil as “a violation of Iraqi sovereignty”. It also warned of “disastrous consequences for the stability of Iraq and the region.” The US strikes, which also took place on Syrian territory, were in response to last Sunday’s drone strike, which killed three US soldiers in Jordan, near the border with Syria.
