Live | Lawyers stand up for Marum’s in-laws swimming pool murder on the last day of appeal. Follow it here

On Wednesday, the Public Prosecution Service again demanded heavy sentences on appeal for the convicted in-laws in the Marumer swimming pool murder. The lawyers will have the floor on Thursday. Are they blowing holes in the justice system?

The two Advocates General (public prosecutors on appeal) demanded 20 years in prison against the partner and brother-in-law of Jan Elzinga from Marum, who was murdered in 2012. Mother-in-law Coby van der L. was sentenced to 17 years in prison and weapons supplier Johan L. from Kampen was sentenced to 12 years.

The lawyers of the suspects believe that the Public Prosecution Service has forfeited the right to prosecute by doing business with Willem P., who initially arranged the liquidation and made a deal with the justice department while in custody. Follow the developments below slowblog.
