Live in Berlin: That’s how furious BLOND celebrated the start of their tour in the Festsaal Kreuzberg

New album out, a good dozen guests on stage. The Chemnitz Allstars are starting the 2023 festival season with a bang.

A “chant” that is unusual for a feminist women’s band with a bassist echoes through the sold-out “Festsaal Kreuzberg”. Over 1,000 mostly female voices shout “Let’s go BLOND: fight!! And SIEGEN!!“ A rhythmic hammer chorale, which is supported by drumming and can be heard (also) in German soccer stadiums on the weekends. Irony? A martial form of self-empowerment.

In any case, the mood on that Friday evening in the former Berlin border strip between WEST and EAST was great for the trio from the former Karl-Marx-Stadt. Disco classics rang out over the speaker system to the tumult of the grandstands. An eclectic mix that roughly conveys the starting position before today’s, very first Blond concert in spring 2023. All systems at FULL POWER!

The trio of buddies that had existed since their youth was, like so many others, tiled into an involuntary pandemic break. Especially at the beginning of a career after the debut MARTINI SPRITE a real setback, which could be overcome with a good mood and stable self-confidence.

The just released successor PERLEN is all the more reason to up the ante again. Even the teaser video by Nina (vocals, guitar) and Lotta Kummer (vocals, drums) and bassist Johann Bonitz was a real eye-catcher for the “Fashion Fimmel Crew by Heart”.

BLOND had brought a whole busload of guests for their furious Berlin gig, and after a hearty fan greeting, the fans couldn’t help but be amazed. Here in the telegram staccato: “I say yes” celebrated with Power Plush, much cheered “So beautiful” quasi family-internally with Kraftklub; the very nice highway rest stop anthem “Sanifair Millionär CYPHER” (you have to think of that first…) with Jakob and Djamin from Leoniden:

“Sanifair millionaire, Sanifair millionaire = Sanifair millionaire has highway flair
Sanifair millionaire, Sanifair millionaire = Sanifair millionaire regulates the traffic..”

A kind of murderousness meets everyday rap, which the ARD traffic editorial team will certainly be interested in when another traffic jam report comes up: “Shy bladder, germ phobia = small change, I never have that = looking after a clean toilet = I sneak like a shadow through the service area..”

The funny, combative equal rights anthem “Männer” (together with rapper addeN), in which it rains men in a square like in the US disco hit “It’s Raining Men” – in a kind of punk version.

In short: BLOND in top form. A glamor show that can be modified modularly with all kinds of costume gags, which promises maximum entertainment for the upcoming autumn tour (from November 20th, kick-off in Dresden) without being annoying with constant pressure fueling. Or already in May 2023 at the Campus Festival in Konstanz on Lake Constance.
