At 2 pm, Prime Minister Jan Jambon (N-VA) will make his September statement in the Flemish Parliament. In that statement, the government traditionally sets out the broad outline of its policy and budget for the coming year. Normally Jambon had to do that last Monday, but the three Flemish government parties were unable to find a budget agreement in time. Yesterday CD&V resigned itself to the compromise that was in fact on the government table on Monday, but was still insufficient for CD&V chairman Sammy Mahdi.
