LIVE: Extinction Rebellion occupies A10, first climate demonstrators taken away in police bus

The police have started clearing the A10 in Amsterdam. Climate activists are taken away and put on a bus. Several buses are available for transport. There are also more than ten riot vans on the A10. The Mobile Unit has not yet intervened.

Hundreds of demonstrators are on the A10. A few people cycle on the highway, others make music and hold up signs with texts such as ‘stop fossil subsidies’.

The police have arrested 27 people. It’s about the group that first tried to stop the cars.

The police have a lot more officers on the ground than last time, reports a reporter on site. On December 30, the A10 South was also occupied by Extinction Rebellion. The occupation then lasted more than five hours.
