William II – Vitesse
Hekkensluiter Willem II has only one option at home against Vitesse: win. The Tilburgers are at the bottom of the Eredivisie and saw PEC Zwolle take the full loot on Saturday evening to make matters worse.
Feyenoord – FC Utrecht
Feyenoord must win to shake off closest pursuer FC Twente again in the battle for place 3 in the Eredivisie. FC Utrecht is seventh and is in full battle for a place in the play-offs for European football.
FC Groningen – Heracles Almelo
FC Groningen still has a chance of participating in the play-offs, but will have to keep the points at home against Heracles today. The Almeloërs are with thirty points and thirteenth place in the no man’s land of the Eredivisie.
Fortuna Sittard – Go Ahead Eagles
Fortuna saw PEC Zwolle come alongside in points on Saturday evening and therefore knows what to do. The Limburgers will close the football weekend against sub-topper Go Ahead on Sunday.
SC Cambuur – PSV 1-2
PSV fell behind Cambuur very early, but straightened their backs through Zahavi before half-time. After the break, the Frisians ended up with 10 men, after which Mario Götze became the match winner.
NEC – Ajax 0-1
Ajax seemed to make a mistake in Nijmegen for a long time, after Dusan Tadic had already missed a penalty before half-time. Substitute Brian Brobbey brought relief to Amsterdam in the 88th minute by shooting in the 0-1 from the turn.
AZ – SC Heerenveen 2-1
AZ escaped a loss of points against SC Heerenveen shortly before the end. Tijjani Reijnders scored the 2-1 on a pass from Sam Beukema. Via Amin Sarr, the Frisians had taken the lead in the opening phase. Jesper Karlsson equalized shortly before half time.
RKC Waalwijk – PEC Zwolle 0-2
PEC has done an excellent job in the fight against relegation. On a visit to RKC Waalwijk, Dick Schreuder’s team scored quickly both before half-time and after half-time, which was enough for the victory. PEC is in sixteenth place in the Eredivisie with the important three-pointer.
FC Twente – Sparta Rotterdam 2-0
After the defeat at Fortuna Sittard, Sparta lost another important away game on Friday in the battle against relegation. FC Twente was 2-0 too strong for the formation of Henk Fraser in Enschede. Ricky van Wolfswinkel (before half time) and Michel Vlap (in the second half) took care of the goals.
