FC Twente – PSV
FC Twente and PSV will face each other in Enschede from 6.45 pm. After Ajax’s win in Groningen, the people of Eindhoven have to give chase, while FC Twente wants to strengthen fourth place and may well be number 3 after this round. Ron Jans’ formation is two points ahead of pursuer AZ and only one behind Feyenoord.
Cody Gakpo is on the bench at PSV. The international has recovered from the injury he sustained to his ankle and knee more than two weeks ago, but trainer Roger Schmidt does not want to start with him immediately. The German coach will stick to the same basic team as during the last competition match against Fortuna Sittard. Erick Gutierrez returned late after the international match with Mexico, but the midfielder can play normally. In addition to Gakpo, André Ramalho also returns to the group of players. The Brazilian central defender was absent for three months due to an ankle surgery.
AZ – Vitesse
The same AZ starts the home game against Vitesse at 8 p.m. An opponent that the Alkmaarders usually like at home, the last home defeat dates back to 2009. Vitesse is sixth and can strengthen that place with a win compared to FC Utrecht, which has one point less.
RKC Waalwijk – FC Utrecht
The Utrechters start at the same time as AZ and Vitesse with their visit to RKC Waalwijk. Without the ejected René Hake, Rick Kruys has to send his team to the first three-pointer under his leadership. It will not be easy, because the Waalwijkers won well before the international break at Vitesse. RKC is fourteenth, five points above the red line.
Feyenoord – Willem II
Saturday evening will be concluded in De Kuip with the match between Feyenoord and Willem II. The Rotterdammers are third with a point ahead of FC Twente, while the Tilburgers are involved in an extremely exciting relegation battle. The team is still in a safe fifteenth place, but the competition follows one, two and three points behind respectively. The ball in De Kuip will roll at 9 p.m.
FC Groningen – Ajax 1-3
Earlier on Saturday, Ajax won 3-1 at FC Groningen. The formation of Danny Buijs still took the lead via Jørgen Strand Larsen, but goals from Davy Klaassen and Dusan Tadic (penalty kick) caused the visitors to switch roles before half time. In stoppage time, Steven Berghuis closed the game.
