Sparta and Heerenveen gather
Sparta Rotterdam has taken another point in the fight against relegation from the Eredivisie. The team of coach Henk Fraser played a 1-1 draw at Het Kasteel against sc Heerenveen. Sparta had chances for more, but Lennart Thy missed a penalty.
Heracles wins in Sittard
Fortuna Sittard has suffered a costly defeat in the battle against relegation. The Limburgers went down in front of their own audience against Heracles Almelo: 0-2. Fortuna dropped to penultimate place due to the loss. Thanks to the victory, Heracles is on 30 points and is therefore well on the way to another year of football in the Eredivisie.
PEC – Go Ahead Eagles: 0-1
Go Ahead Eagles also won the second IJsselderby of this season on Sunday. Philippe Rommens shot the club from Deventer in the 3rd minute of injury time past PEC Zwolle: 0-1. The Belgian was allowed to take a free pass from outside the penalty area and curled the ball with the left over goalkeeper Kostas Lamprou in the crossing. At the beginning of this season, Go Ahead Eagles won in their own Adelaarshorst with the same figures of the fellow regional.
Feyenoord – Willem II: 2-0
Feyenoord barely managed to get 3 points from the home game against Willem II. Luis Sinisterra and Bryan Linssen gave the Rotterdam team a narrow victory over the number 15 of the Eredivisie: 2-0.
AZ – Vitesse 3-1
AZ has again inflicted a defeat on Vitesse in the Eredivisie. The team of trainer Pascal Jansen defeated the Arnhem team in Alkmaar 3-1. Vitesse took only 5 points from the last eight league matches and was also eliminated in the Conference League by AS Roma in between.
RKC Waalwijk – FC Utrecht 1-1
Rick Kruys just failed to win his first match as interim coach of FC Utrecht. The 36-year-old former midfielder saw his team give away a lead at RKC in injury time: 1-1. Michiel Kramer headed in for the home team through the inside of the post.
FC Twente – PSV 3-3
PSV has lost valuable points in the battle for the national title. The team from Eindhoven fought back at FC Twente from a three-goal deficit: 3-3. PSV now has 4 points less than Ajax. For PSV it meant the first loss of points in two months. The team has won the previous six competition matches against trainer Roger Schmidt.
FC Groningen – Ajax 1-3
Earlier on Saturday, Ajax won 3-1 at FC Groningen. The formation of Danny Buijs still took the lead via Jørgen Strand Larsen, but goals from Davy Klaassen and Dusan Tadic (penalty kick) caused the visitors to switch roles before half time. In stoppage time, Steven Berghuis closed the game.
