Two brothers from Amersfoort are also on trial in the case. As a 16-year-old boy, the youngest brother would have shot his nephew with the firearm on April 28, 2021. He then withheld from emergency services that a shot had been fired. Because he is a minor, his case will be heard behind closed doors on Tuesday afternoon.

The aunt is accused of hearing a gunshot, but did not say anything about it to the emergency services. The autopsy report shows that the boy had a chance of survival if that had happened.

The boy died in hospital, where it was assumed that he was ‘unwell’. It was only after his body was exhumed that something strange was going on.

An MRI scan showed ‘something’ in the victim’s right buttock fold. On May 5, the radiological scan was studied in more detail. The doctors thought they saw a hole, possibly a stab injury.

That was the reason for the Public Prosecution Service to order an autopsy. The boy’s body was exhumed. It turned out that he had been hit by a bullet that pierced his left iliac artery. The revolver that fired the bullet must almost certainly have been held against his body.

The case against the six-year-older brother will be heard on Wednesday. He allegedly robbed his nephew of his iPhone, a bank card and his ID card.

The weapon probably belonged to the eldest, 21-year-old son of the house. He will stand trial on Wednesday, but was not involved in the shooting.
