After two years without festivities due to the corona pandemic, Drenthe is celebrating King’s Day as usual today. In many places in the province there are free markets and other festive activities.
This year’s national celebration is all about freedom and solidarity and will take place in Maastricht, where King Willem-Alexander and his family would already go in 2020. The visit is expected to last two hours and will be concluded with a specially composed song by Rowwen Hèze on the Vrijthof.
King’s Day starts cloudy, the sun shows itself at times in the afternoon, especially in the southern half of Drenthe. The north of the province has more clouds and only an occasional ray of sunshine. It will remain dry and the temperature will be around 13 or 14 degrees.
