The first men arrive at the 10 kilometer point in the Rivierenbuurt after 29 minutes and 28 seconds (unofficial time). This means that the pace has been considerably increased by the top athletes. After 22.30 minutes, the men’s leading group passes the A10 ring road and therefore runs across the Zuidas towards Buitenveldert.

The speed is high and the athletes have difficulty with the sharp turns at the Rijksmuseum. Because of the new shoes, which have a carbon plate, taking sharp turns is a bit more difficult. The speed is higher and the load is also lower with the new shoes.
The athletes have now traveled just over 3 kilometers and are crossing the Vondelpark. The athletes will soon continue towards the Rijksmuseum.
The Amsterdam Marathon is one of twelve marathons around the world with a Platinum Label from the World Athletics Federation. Amsterdam is the only Dutch marathon with this status. The race therefore ranks alongside the prestigious marathons of New York, Berlin, Tokyo, Boston, Chicago and London.
The starting gun for the 47th edition of the Amsterdam Marathon sounds in the Olympic Stadium.
Almaz Ayana smashed the course record among women last year. On Sunday, October 16, 2022, she clocked a time of 2 hours, 17 minutes and 20 seconds during the Amsterdam Marathon. For men, the record dates from a year earlier. In 2021, Tamirat Tola from Ethiopia recorded a time of 2 hours, 3 minutes and 39 seconds.
In Amsterdam it is currently only eight and eight degrees. There is currently a shower over the city, but it will be dry when it starts. The start of the race will be dry, but the riders will have to deal with rain again after the first hour. The temperature today will reach a maximum of around 12 degrees.
