The Rolling Stones release Live At The El Mocambo 1977. The live album was recorded at the band’s two secret concerts at El Mocambo and will be released on May 13, 2022.

An intimate setting and two performances
The Stones surprised everyone with two live shows in 1977 at the El Mocambo Club in Toronto, Canada. At that time they performed in front of just 300 spectators. Stones fans became aware of the show after local radio station CHUM FM held a contest. The participants were able to win tickets for two performances by the popular Canadian rock band April Wine, who in turn announced the newcomers The Cockroaches as support. The cockroaches were, of course, the Rolling Stones.
“The plan we came up with,” said contest organizer at the time, Duff Roman, “was to have a competition. We asked, ‘What would you do to see the Rolling Stones play live?’ This allowed us to select the top 300 entries and guarantee real fans would be at the event. The award was a chance to see April Wine at El Mocambo.”
