“Little Prince”: Pashanim is reminiscent of Bushido and Shindy with a new music video

He’s done it again: Thursday evening, West Berlin rapper Pashanim announced in his Instagram story that he would be releasing a new music video that same evening – more than eight months after his last solo release up to that point.

The new song is called “Little Prince” and thus plays on the story “Le Petit Prince” by the French author Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, which can also be seen in a German edition in the music video. In it, a small boy who was not born on earth embarks on an interplanetary journey. The work, which is often classified as a “modern fairy tale”, is provided with numerous illustrations and is often used in French lessons at German schools. Is that where Pashanim got his inspiration from?

In any case, he draws parallels between himself and the little prince in the song: “From 61 into the wide world” raps Pashanim and thus takes up a basic motif of the French story: discovering the world with open eyes.

Pashanim with “First Good Boy” reminiscences

Lyrically, Pashanim works with reminiscences on two absolute “Ersguterjunge” classics. So he raps in a few lines in the style of Bushidos “Sunbed Flavor’ and strings together associatively linked nominatives. Pashanim also adopts a prominent line from the song: “Skin cream, hair wax, nicotine, alcohol / All the kids, everywhere, go out and get the album”. The track “Kleiner Prinz” is reminiscent of the work of Shindy in terms of the voice color and the content of the lines, which together with Bushido 2014 the song “Nicotine & Alcohol‘ published, in which the above line is also taken up.

For the music video, the young Berliner dressed up in an unusual way: Instead of wearing an AC Milan jersey, he now poses neatly in a suit – with a tie. Otherwise, the video shows many scenes from Pashanim’s performance at the “Frauenfeld” Festival 2022: “Flashed festivals / main stage, Abu Glitsch / kickdown, sportscar / round trip for the first time”. Sounds like a hefty fine.

It will probably be some time before the kids can get a Pashanim album. The Berliner is known for his rare – and unannounced – releases. Most recently, a feature of the rapper appeared on the album MAKA KNACKER by Nizi19, before that he published the Polarkreis18 homage “Allein, Alone” together with Ufo361. The last solo release was his song “paris freestyle‘, which was based on the track ‘Skrilla’ by Kodak Black. All of these songs were released without much advance notice – so whether and when we will hear an album by the young Berliner is anyone’s guess.
