IS been a busy year for George Alexander Louis of Cambridge. The great-grandmother queen wants him more and more in the foreground, convinced that he, the third in line of succession to the throne, is the new face of a monarchy undermined by scandals and crises. And at just 9 years old (he turns them today), the little one has already shown that he knows how to do his duty.
George of Cambridge: the little “king” grows up
In a suit and tie at the commemoration of great-grandfather Philip, last March, together with his little sister Charlotte, and then during the events of the Jubilee, alongside Queen Elizabeth, George faces his destiny as the future king of England with seriousness right now. Although in the Wimbledon Royal Box, dressed as per protocol and ending up suffering from the heat of those days, he was unable to hold back snorts and grimaces.
George of Cambridge carbon copy of William
George’s preparation began two years ago, when William and Kate began to gradually explain to him what his future role would be. And if he does not always appear comfortable shaking hands and exchanging pleasantries with dozens of strangers (his little sister Charlotte, 7, is much more casual), the little one tries to copy his father as much as possible, without ever detaching himself from him.
The many hobbies of the prince
George, they say in the family, loves playing football and at tennis, he is learning to ride and in the garden of Anmer Hall, the Cambridge country residence, he grows his vegetables. He collects airplanes and enjoys dancing around the kitchen table with his brother and sister. And tells Kate, the eldest son even learned to cook cheese pasta!
From Kensington Palace to Windsor
Activities that will continue to perform as well to Windsor, where George will move in the next few weeks, along with the rest of the Cambridge clan, in a residence not far from the castle of Queen Elizabeth. The apartments in Kensington Palace, where she has lived so far, will only become a London support. And he, like Charlotte and Louis, will have to change schools.
The new school where no one recognized him
In early July, George left there forever Thomas’s Batterseathe prestigious school in Kensington, London, which has so far been attended together with Charlotte. In September he will move to a new institutionalready chosen by his parents after a day of rehearsal in which George mingled among the pupils passing, to his great relief, unnoticed.
But why is George called… George?
At court they say that William and Kate were undecided about the name to give to the firstborn. The Duchess would have preferred Alexander, while the prince husband would have opted for George. The dog Lupo, on the other hand, decided, randomly choosing the various names that were placed in front of him on the ground from among the strips of paper written on them. And the first to end up in the cocker spaniel’s paws was the name George, followed by Alexander and Louis.
