Literary world supports threatened Pim Lammers with full-page newspaper advertisement

The short story in question from 2015 is about a relationship between a 12-year-old boy and his football coach. It is based on Lammers’ childhood experiences, and written for adult readers. Lammers was accused of being a pedophile activist. The writer, former winner of the Zilveren Griffel, called the accusations ‘absolutely untrue’, filed a report and retired as the writer of the poem for the Children’s Book Week. Well-known Dutch people from the literary world who supported him also said they had to deal with threats.

Booksellers also took action this week by hanging a poster in the window and giving Lammers’ work a prominent place in the shop. His poetry book I think I’ve been kidnapped which caused the commotion, sold out and is getting a reprint due to its rapidly increasing popularity.
