Mayor Veerle Baeyens (N-VA) continues to insist that she did not exceed her powers when she expressed her concerns about an officer in a letter to the chief of police. However, it does appear from the letter, which the HLN and VTM Nieuws investigative unit could lay hands on, that Baeyens asked the chief of police to “reconsider” the Traffic Department, where the agent is the only one who works. The letter also shows that Baeyens only wants to fine traffic offenses if they are “dangerous”.
