Fans have been waiting for a reunion of The Mars Volta for ten years, now the time has finally come: On Friday, September 16th, the self-titled seventh album “The Mars Volta” was released. The album can now be heard on all streaming platforms.

“Blacklight Shine” was released in June as a first preview. “Graveyard Love” and “Vigil” followed as further singles. The latter in particular caused discussions among fans, since the spherical Latin pop is very far removed from the prog epics of the past.

The Mars Volta formed in 2001 from the debris of the recently defunct post-hardcore band At The Drive-In (whose other half became Sparta). The group around creative minds Cedric Bixler-Zavala and Omar Rodríguez-López thrived with their mix of progressive and Latin rock influences and albums like De-Loused In The Comatorium (2003) and Frances The Mute (2005). himself attentive.
