The Rolling Stones have teamed up with German house DJ Purple Disco Machine to produce a remix of their song “Mess It Up” from their new record “Hackney Diamonds.” The Stones’ 24th studio album was released on October 20th, the remix on Friday (November 17th). The remix, titled “Mess It Up (Purple Disco Machine Remix),” features parts from late drummer Charlie Watts. The video also features the lyrics, which are presented as collage art.
One day after the release of the remix, on December 18th, Keith Richards will be 80 years old.
Who is Purple Disco Machine?
The DJ, also known as Tino Piontek, comes from Dresden. The 43-year-old is a producer and DJ with an international reputation. His stage name, Purple Disco Machine, is a conscious homage to his funk hero Prince and the dance flair of Gloria Estefan’s “Miami Sound Machine”.
Purple Disco Machine has collaborated with names like Dua Lipa, Elton John, Fatboy Slim, Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande. This year, Piontek also won a Grammy in the Best Remixed Recording category for his remix of Lizzo’s “It’s About Damn Time.”
