After the track “Black Summer” gave a foretaste of the new record “Unlimited Love” at the beginning of February, the Red Hot Chili Peppers are increasing the anticipation for the new songs with the new song “Poster Child”. The band also hints that a few more new releases are on the way.
With “Poster Child” the Chili Peppers present a powerful, groovy title that clearly stands out from the atmospherically relaxed predecessor “Black Summer”.
A short video that could be a teaser for the music video for “Poster Child” can already be seen on Instagram. The aesthetic is reminiscent of American comics, a skater rolling through California under the hot sun. Then the scenery changes into a trashy destruction scene with a green monster. Nothing else can be seen yet. Many users feel transported back to the past of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and enjoy the “old school vibes”.
April 1st sees the release of the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ long-awaited album, which would have benefited in positive ways from the return of John Frusciante, according to frontman Anthony Kiedis. The guitarist had left the band for a second time in the mid-2000s and only returned in 2019. “Unlimited Love” will be the first album with the old line-up since “Stadium Arcadium”.
For all members of the formation, the return meant “the most monumental change in our lives. And, oh god, I was ready for anything,” the RHCP singer said. Frusciante underscores this statement by saying that they have already recorded around 50 new songs. That’s why Kiedis also announces: “We will release music in series.” This can also be expected in the near future.
The world tour is scheduled for the summer, with the musicians making two stops in Germany.
