List Segerius too successful and has to give up a seat: ‘I don’t care’

You don’t expect it, but as a political party you can also do too well. It happened in Enkhuizen List Segerius, with Chris Segerius (78) as the only candidate. He won two seats, so he has to give up one. Something that almost never happens.

Chris Segerius wins 2 seats in Enkhuizen and has to surrender one – NH Nieuws

Segerius himself can laugh at the unique situation, he tells WEEFF/NH Nieuws: “I hope they will use the seat with great wisdom. But I will continue to advise them. I don’t care who gets that seat. I don’t care. .”

The Enkhuizer has achieved its goal. Like a louse in the fur, he has been following and writing about local politics in his municipality for years. In recent years, he has also focused on the development of the Enkhuizerzand recreational area. Sold to project developer EuroParcs in line with the market, according to the municipality, but wasted according to him by the council and the council of Enkhuizen.

ignored

He asked several times to substantiate why the land with a value of 30 million euros was sold for 335,000 euros. But the document proving it to be a good deal is to this day secretbecause it could harm the community. “I have been ignored, my objections have never been seriously addressed. And I have now found a group of people who said: find out.”

And so he is now on the council, and is going to try to get the piece public. Two other parties: Enkhuizen Vooruit! and the Pirate Party want it too. And those parties also had good elections. “That is the enormous significance of these elections,” said Segerius.

Then it is a protest against secrecy. I don’t think that’s a bad protest

Chris Segerius, councilor

Not everyone is enthusiastic about Segerius’ entry into the council. For example, SP party leader Margreet Keesman spoke about protest votes. “It’s just like what you see in national politics: Forum for Democracy, PVV. They say: ‘Politics is no good’. They are protest votes that voted here.”

Segerius reacts fiercely. “The SP does not know what is going on. Tragic ignorance. If this is a protest, then it is a protest against secrecy. Against pure power politics of the SP and backroom stuff. I don’t think that is a bad protest.”

Who gets the seat?

The big question is who will get the seat that Segerius has to hand in again. It led to the necessary confusion† Today it looked like it was going to the PvdA. That party used to have one seat, but now it has two.

But according to a spokesperson for the municipality, it is not possible to translate this one to one. There were six remaining seats. And so it turns out that the Pirate Party has also benefited from the returned seat. That party initially did not have enough votes to get on the council, but eventually won a seat.

So it doesn’t matter to Segerius. He is on the council and can get to work with what he has wanted for a long time. Trying to get clarity about the deal surrounding the Enkhuizerzand.
