hole
The game, which was played in front of several hundred spectators in Panningen, had to wait some time for the opening goal. Both teams started the match energetically, but it was only after more than 3.5 minutes that Niek Jordens broke the spell for Bevo. The game was evenly matched in the first fifteen minutes. With a score of 8-9, Lions opened the first hole of the game. Within minutes, Lions scored a number of quick hits in a row. A large part of the goals in Christop Jauernik’s team came in the name of Ids Eussen, who found the net seven times in the first half.

noise
Five minutes before half-time, Lions had created a four-point gap. Bevo came back into the game in the final minutes before half-time. Partly due to the encouragement of the public, the gap had shrunk halfway to 17-18.

rescues
Even after the break, it took a long time before a team managed to find the net. This was partly due to great saves by both goalkeepers. The best save was made by Lions goalkeeper Bram Kleijkers, who managed to keep his goal clean in a direct duel. A little later Kleijkers saw Bevo alongside and also pass. Due to the strong minutes before and after the break, the team from Panningen felt that there was something to gain. As a result, it was an exciting second half, in which both teams did not differ much from each other for a long time and it became a real derby.

Time penalty
During a two-minute time penalty for Bevo, Lions again pulled the match a bit and Ivo Steins brought the team from Sittard-Geleen back to the same level. Lions then also took the lead, forcing Bevo to chase each time. Halfway through the second half, Jauernik’s team managed to make another gap and also continue to run to 26-32. It turned out to be the decisive difference. Bevo came back to three goals difference, but in the final phase Danny van Katwijk’s team had to bow: 31-35.

Playoffs
The victory puts Kembit-Lions more firmly in the top four of the BeNe-League. Those places give the right to play-offs in more than a month. Bevo no longer has a chance of making the play-offs. They are in ninth place in the ranking. Both teams will be back in action next Saturday. Then Lions plays in and against Aalsmeer and Bevo plays the away match at Haacht.
