Lion Jafar can go outside, but whether he wants to is the question…

At nine o’clock this morning the shutters of the lion enclosure in Wildlands open. The new male lion Jafar is allowed to go to his outdoor enclosure for the first time. But he’s not really excited.

Jafar shows his head after a few minutes, and then quickly runs back inside. After fifty minutes he makes another attempt. “He didn’t feel like it,” says caregiver Zoë Slaat. “It is the first time for him that he can go to this residence and the ladies are still inside. So he thinks it is exciting.”

Lion Dudley passed away last March. Since August 4, Jafar lives in Wildlands. The lion comes from a wildlife park in France. He is supposed to take care of offspring together with Aisha, one of the four lionesses. But so far, the lionesses are not too fond of Jafar.
