Lion escapes from circus in Italy, citizens urged to stay indoors | Abroad

More than 40,000 people live in Ladispoli, a coastal town near Rome. According to mayor Alessandro Grando, the police are now helping circus staff in the search for the lion. A trail was said to have been found near the water, next to the circus grounds. It is not clear how the predator escaped.

Grando also immediately addresses possible criticism from local residents who believe that he should not have given permission for a circus with lions. According to the mayor, the city already tried to ban a circus in 2017, but Ladispoli does not have the opportunity to do so.
