Link between explosions: villa resident is also restaurant owner

The explosions at a restaurant and a villa in Eindhoven appear not to be an isolated incident. The owner of the building where the restaurant is located is also the resident of the villa. An explosive exploded at the restaurant on Kerkstraat on Tuesday morning, and on Sunday it hit the villa on Elzentlaan. It is unclear why the man is the target of the attacks. It may have to do with a conflict in the relational sphere.

There are only a few days in between: a bang caused a window of a chicken restaurant on Kerkstraat to be pierced on Tuesday morning. And on Sunday, heavy fireworks exploded in the front garden of a house on Elzentlaan. The residents were home but were not injured.

Research by Omroep Brabant has now revealed the connection between the explosions. The resident of the house appears to rent the building where the restaurant is located to the catering entrepreneur.

The explosion at the restaurant was captured by cameras around a quarter to six on Tuesday morning. The videos show one or two people hanging out on the patio. Then flashes of light can be seen. A little later the first officers appear with flashlights. They see that the window of the restaurant has been damaged by an explosive.

“I have no enemies myself.”

The catering entrepreneur of chicken restaurant Van ‘t Spit says he has not heard of the connection between the explosions. “As far as I know, I have no enemies myself.”
