Three Rammstein albums are in the German charts. Friday afternoon will show whether the records climb up or down the rankings.
Despite – or because of? – the allegations of alleged abusive behavior by Till Lindemann, three Rammstein albums are in the German top 100 in the charts of June 9th. The current work ZEIT has risen from 32 to 29 (in the charts for 58 weeks), the one before that The published work RAMMSTEIN (for 201 weeks) even climbed from 71 to 52. The 2001 record MUTTER (charts since 141) with hits like “Links 2 3 4” made the biggest jump: from 91 to 63.
The new full-length charts will be published on Friday afternoon. The anniversary edition of SEHNSUCHT was released on the previous Friday. It will soon become clear where this record will be found in the upcoming ranking.
As the “FAZ” also reports, market leader Universal Music has made representations to the German music industry association BVMI. The group’s label, with which Rammstein is under contract, expressly demands, and on behalf of the band, that a newly released and potentially commercially successful album not be listed in the charts. Universal had previously announced that it would pause cooperation with the band until allegations of abuse were resolved.
The band’s popularity continues unabated. As surveys show, the number of their Instagram followers is increasing, as is the number of regular Rammstein hits played on Spotify. The estimated earnings from sales of all kinds are also immense.
