Lindemann cancels shows in Russia and Rammstein comments on the Ukraine war

Till Lindemann is known for his connection to Eastern European and Russian culture. In the past he has repeatedly posted pictures from Moscow, but also from visits to Ukraine, including a stay near the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. The Rammstein singer had actually planned to perform in Russia on December 5th and 11th, 2022, more precisely in Novosibirsk and Moscow. However, these dates of the “I hate children” solo tour have now been canceled.

The artist did not give a specific reason for this, but it is obvious that he wants to take a stand against current events and the war crimes that Russia’s President Putin is currently committing in Ukraine. This is also supported by the fact that Till Lindemann has not canceled his planned appearance on November 16, 2022 in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv, although bitter fighting is currently taking place there.

Rammstein publish statement

There is a detailed statement on the website and on the Instagram account of his band Rammstein. It says in English, Ukrainian and Russian:

The band Rammstein would like to express their support for the Ukrainian people who are standing up against the shocking onslaught by the Russian government. Especially at this moment we feel special sorrow for the suffering of the Ukrainian people. Each member of the band has different experiences of the two countries; all members of the band have friends, colleagues, partners and fans in both countries. We recognize the desperation that many Russian fans feel at the actions of their government, and we want to remember the humanity shared by both Russian and Ukrainian citizens.
