The format of the once successful Linda de Mol show Ik Hou Van Holland has become so worn out that it now costs more money than it makes, says former SBS 6 boss Tina Nijkamp.
Linda de Mol was once the most successful woman on Dutch television, but now she is no longer even the most successful woman on SBS 6. After all, that is Hélène Hendriks. Even Ik Hou Van Holland, which was a success for years and even marked the end of Paul de Leeuw’s success, no longer manages to score.
‘Money is needed’
It’s over with Ik Hou Van Holland, says ratings authority Tina Nijkamp, the former channel boss of SBS 6. analysis channel. The new season got off to a very mediocre start last week and that cautious premiere was not made up for last weekend. “For Linda, the new season seems to end in a major deception.”
She continues: “I like Han Holland scores even less than last week: 677 thousand viewers vs 620 thousand viewers. Phew, that’s not easy. Also only a meager 9.2 percent market share in the commercial target group 25 to 54 years old. This format seems to have been finalized and money will probably be needed in the meantime.”
Expensive program
As a former channel manager of SBS 6, Tina knows the cost of such a program and how many people have to watch it to earn it back. “It’s probably the return on investment with these figures in the minus. Too little for such an expensive program. One episode probably costs around 110 to 150 thousand euros, including presentation fees and panel members.”
Nowadays people prefer to watch real TV like Een Huis Vol, Tina continues Telegraph column. “Those quizzes and panel shows may feel too manufactured, too produced and too fake in 2024. In these times we need normal and, above all, real and pure television.”
André disappoints
The big TV stars used to be real top scorers, but nowadays it’s more about authenticity and real people. According to Tina, André van Duin is also very disappointing now that his program Bij Van Duin op de Achterbank has been moved from Friday to Saturday evening. “It has fallen into a ratings ravine.”
Only 596 thousand people watched it last weekend. “How is this possible? Almost 1 million fewer viewers than the first season on Friday. For our country’s most popular and beloved celebrity, André van Duin, these types of figures are unknown territory. Shame.”
