Although violinist Linda Lampenius has lived in Sweden since 2002, she is invited to Finnish reality programs at a steady pace.
– There are also a lot of old series that are now being made VIP versions. It is said that “now only celebrities are involved, now it is mandatory to go along”. I’m not leaving, I don’t want to, Lampenius says.
He made an exception with Masked Singer Finland. In 2020, a violin star familiar to Finns was revealed behind Kisu’s mask.
– It’s a music program and it still has the side that I was anonymous, Lampenius justifies his singing from behind the mask.
– Yes, I was still terrified, Lampenius says.
The second reality experience was still tougher for Lampenius.
– I was in Sweden Dancing with the Stars competition in 2008. I was also in it for eight weeks. It went pretty well. It was tough because I was involved as myself, Lampenius says.
In four of the eight weeks, Lampenius scored full points.
– That wasn’t enough for me. Even if I didn’t get (full marks), I immediately thought I was ungodly miserable. My world was black and white, Lampenius says.
– It was filmed just when I was struggling with an eating disorder for the last year. I was recovering from an eating disorder and bulimia – and I had to be evaluated, Lampenius says.
He says that in addition to outsiders, he relentlessly evaluates himself.
– We trained to dance for six hours every day. If something didn’t quite work out, I was really disappointed in myself. It was a fragile time, Lampenius says.
Martin brought hope
During the RTD competition, Lampenius wrote a significant song. The song name is Hope.
– I just met Martinin (Cullberg), who is my husband today. He gave me tools on how I need to think and do to get better. He stressed that no one can say that “I am forced to heal today and if I am not healthy tomorrow, I have failed”. He made me understand it. He gave me hope, Lampenius says.
Suddenly there was hope in Lampenius’ life again. Lampenius performed the song Hope at the MLL Uusimaa district’s Fashion and Stars charity fashion show on Thursday.
Lampenius emphasizes that the song that gives hope is perfect for a charity fashion show, where the proceeds are directed to work to support families with children who have fled to Finland in Ukraine.
