Linda de Mol series almost over, scores remain low: ‘Too negative’

Linda de Mol’s agony is almost over: her failed drama series Five Live is almost experiencing its season finale. Why is the series so bad? Tina Nijkamp gives the answer.

Linda de Mol walks between her lackeys every Monday morning with a blush of shame on her cheeks. The ratings of her drama series Five Live are outrageously bad for someone who has been the television queen for years. For example, only 422 thousand people (9 percent market share) watched the broadcast on SBS 6 yesterday.

Linda dangles

With this score, Linda manages to achieve the very last place in the daily viewing figure top 25 and that is still good for Five Live, because she was not even able to achieve this viewing figure overview with two previous episodes.

Rating expert Tina Nijkamp: “Well. What’s left to say? It scores 12.0 percent in the commercial target group aged 20 to 54. (…) Next week the final episode, and perhaps a second season after all, also because Linda wants to give the series another chance, I think.”

‘Much too negative’

Why does Five Live score so badly? Tina: “Get in a lot of questions dm about how it is that Five Live linear continues to score so poorly, even without major competition? I actually think the main reason is because everything is so incredibly negative in the series.”

She continues: “Really everyone is unhappy. And no one happy and really nice. And that does not inspire viewers. Viewers want to go to sleep with a positive feeling on Sunday evening, because the busy working week starts again on Monday.”

Beau on one

The big winner on Sunday evening prime time remains Beau van Erven Dorens, this time with 1.2 million viewers (24 percent) for his RTL 4 show Weet Ik Veel. Immediately afterwards, Caroline Tensen attracted 1 million viewers (25 percent) with One against 50.

NPO 1 scored 849 thousand viewers with the show Aria (16 percent), NPO 3 with College Tour 660 thousand viewers (13 percent) and SBS 6 with Code van Coppens 627 thousand viewers (12 percent).
