Linda de Mol sees daughter break with family tradition: ‘I miss home’

Linda de Mol sees her daughter break with a very important family tradition: Sinterklaas evening. Noa Vahle herself is also a bit disappointed by that. “We always celebrate that very much, so I do miss that.”

Sinterklaas evening is just around the corner: today is December 5th and that means that a lot of packages are being thrown at wealthy families all over the country. It is also celebrated very lavishly in the billionaire family De Mol. “Sinterklaas is even holier than Christmas with us,” Linda de Mol explained to Libelle a few years ago.

Family tradition

Even so sacred that Linda cancels all her work for it, even if a unique opportunity presents itself. “I even had the opportunity to fly to New York to go on the cover with Daniel Craig, James Bond, and then I heard it was December 5 and I thought, it just can’t be,” she said at the time.

Yet Linda now passively watches how her own daughter Noa Vahle breaks with that family tradition: after all, she is still in controversial Qatar to report on the Football World Cup there. And she herself has mixed feelings about that.

Noa misses home

Noa regrets not being with her family now. “I’ve been here for two weeks now. We do work really long days, so when I’m busy I don’t miss home that much, but Sinterklaas is coming and we always celebrate it very much, so in that respect I do miss home, but I’m having a good time in Doha.”

She continues: “I wouldn’t recommend it as a holiday destination – that’s what Rafael van der Vaart called it before – but you can really do your job here. You have great restaurants, you have beautiful skylines, all the trimmings. As long as the Netherlands stays in it, it is of course fantastic.”

“Hey mom!”

Has the vice squad ever scolded Noa for her bare arms? “I have literally never been approached once. Well, on that OneLove band a few times in the beginning. That is also less. I also adhere to the dress code, although this is on the edge. But no, fine.”

Wilfred Genee: “Would you like to say something to home? You can, because you are live anyway.”

Noa: “Hey mom!”

Where Linda has to swallow hard today, it is a wonderful day for the victims of The Voice. After all, it must be very strange if Jeroen Rietbergen does not disappear into Sinterklaas’ bag tonight.
