Linda de Mol scores lowest viewing figures in her career: ‘Unbelievable’

SBS 6 wants to warm up viewers for Linda de Mol’s big TV comeback, but that leads to the lowest viewing figures in her career. “Unbelievable,” says ratings professor Tina Nijkamp.

Linda through the ice

Things are going terribly bad with SBS 6. This summer proves once again that the channel without the Meilandjes and without the men from Today Inside really means nothing anymore. After the channel fell through the ice the day before yesterday with a repeat of Frank & Rogier, the deployment of Linda de Mol was an even bigger failure yesterday.

SBS 6 has started repeating Linda’s four-part drama series Deep Grounds. The result? The first episode yesterday attracted 87 thousand viewers, good for a market share of 2.2 percent. These are astonishingly low ratings: of all ten major TV channels, SBS 6 was by far the worst-scoring during Linda’s series.

Lowest ratings ever

Linda has never scored so badly on prime time on a major channel. “Linda de Mol was back on TV yesterday after a months-long absence. Only 87 thousand viewers. I don’t think Linda has scored this low in her entire career. And don’t think SBS 6 primetime either.” analyzes former SBS 6 boss Tina Nijkamp.

Tina calls Linda’s score “incredible.” “What a bizarre plan to repeat this series. Repeating a drama series with a continuous story has never scored well in the past 25 years. That is why it is almost never done. In addition, it was only recently, last January, that the series was broadcast. A very bad miss.”

bit embarrassing

Journalist Bas Paternotte thinks Linda also suffers from enormous image damage, especially now that it is rumored that she is back together with Jeroen Rietbergen, which she denies for the time being. “Linda de Mol should know it all herself, but I wouldn’t do it in her case. She also doesn’t need it at all,” he says in the podcast Nasty Boys.

It’s bad for Linda’s goodwill, he thinks. “It’s a bit embarrassing for a power woman like Linda, as she presents herself, to take that pervert for the second time. I understand that you don’t want to put that on the big screen right away.”

After the summer, Linda wants to make her big comeback. Then she returns to the channel with TV classic Miljoenenjacht.

Viewing figures

The big prime-time winners yesterday were NPO 2’s De Slimste Mens (1.4 million), NPO 1’s Thinking of Holland (1.4 million) and RTL 4’s B&B Vol Liefde (765 thousand).

Programs that did not make it to the top 15 include Buying Without Watching (447 thousand), Shownieuws (410 thousand), Hart van Nederland (399 thousand), 112 Today (336 thousand) and Shownieuws Zomeredition (111 thousand).
