Unbelievable but true: Linda de Mol, who was the TV queen of our country for years, is battered in the ratings ditch. It attracted 32,000 viewers yesterday. “I am speechless.”
It makes perfect sense that reruns in the summer season aren’t huge crowd pullers, but what’s happening on SBS 6 now has never been seen in Dutch TV history. The station’s ratings have been extremely low for weeks. The tragic low? Linda de Mol and the repeats of her Deep Grounds series.
‘I am speechless’
Deep Grounds is a series in which the character of Linda with a very difficult face tries to solve all kinds of crimes, a bit in the atmosphere of the crime series from Scandinavia. The viewer does not seem to find it very believable or is not ready to see Linda again on the tube after all her Voice writhing, because no dog is watching.
After last week’s bizarre 87 thousand viewers, Linda reached 32,000 viewers and 0.8 percent market share with the second episode of Diepe Gronden. “Linda de Mol and 32 thousand viewers. Non-existent. Speechless,” says the shocked Tina Nijkamp, who was at the helm of SBS 6 for years, on her channel.
Terrible
Tina, who was particularly fanatical as an SBS 6 boss – she even put an SBS sticker over the RTL 4 logo when her husband wanted to look at the competitor, does not understand that the channel management has not intervened. Last week she already urged them to remove Deep Grounds from the schedule immediately.
SBS 6 has not done that, causing Linda to lose face even more. And the teased presenter absolutely cannot use that now that her TV comeback is imminent. “Why did they leave the repetition of Deep Grounds in the schedule?”, Tina wonders. “Terrible, also for Linda de Mol.”
‘Worst score ever!’
These are by no means your average numbers for the summer season, Tina explains. “She scores 0.8 percent market share in the target group 20 to 54 years. These really are the worst numbers ever for a prime-time show in 27 years on SBS 6, there’s no other way,” she says.
Tina doesn’t understand the transmitter top. “What was SBS 6 thinking? After last week’s 87 thousand viewers and the season premiere of Best Singers and Football, will it still increase? Why not replace it with Het Roer Om (as stated in the guides), vtwonen or any other program?”
Dear Singers
After NPO 2’s De Slimste Mens (1.2 million viewers and 30 percent) and NPO 1’s Thinking of Holland (1.2 million and 32 percent), the season premiere of Beste Zangers was the most watched prime-time program yesterday. 875 thousand people (22 percent) watched the episode in which Roxeanne Hazes was central.
The other most viewed prime-time titles were RTL 4’s B&B Vol Liefde (671 thousand and 17 percent), NPO 2’s Nieuwsuur (644 thousand and 17 percent) and RTL 7’s AZ – Dundee United (489 thousand and 14 percent).
