Limburgers removed from Kanne caves | 1Limburg

A man from the municipality of Echt-Susteren and a family from the municipality of Meerssen have been removed from the caves of Kanne by the Belgian police since an entry ban applies.

That already happened on Friday evening, but the Belgian police Bilzen-Hoeselt-Riemst will come out with it on Monday.

Type of cafe
The police received a report that evening that there were people in the caves. A part of the marl caves was then combed out in the search for the invaders. After half an hour of scrambling and climbing, agents came across a kind of cafe deep in the caves.

Marijuana in your pocket
The 40-year-old man and his family were there. Two men also had a user amount of marijuana with them. The drugs have been seized. The intruders were removed from the caves and received the necessary official reports.

Partly collapsed
The Limburgers have entered dangerous territory in the slope of the Albert Canal. The caves mainly consist of corridors that have partly collapsed. That is why, according to the police, it is life-threatening to enter.

Last year, four Maastricht residents were fined for illegally entering the marl caves in Riemst.
