The maximum temperature on Tuesday at the KNMI weather station Ell, near Haler, was 36.2 degrees. That is significantly lower than in Beek. That’s because an easterly wind carried the air over freshly irrigated grassland to the weather station. That had a cooling effect. In places within built-up areas in the province, it was warmer than 40 degrees on Tuesday. But those reports do not count as official measurements.
