There is still hatred of Israel on Berlin’s streets! A comment from BZ editor Michael Lachmann.
It’s unbearable. Since the barbaric Hamas attack on Israel, hatred has also reigned on the streets of Berlin.
Same on Friday. After Friday prayers in the city’s mosques, hatred of Jews flared up in the well-known hot spots: In Neukölln’s Reuterkiez, around 100 people chanted “Free Palestine” and “Allahu akbar” (German: “Allah is big”)!
Worse still: As in Germany’s darkest times, Stars of David are again being smeared on house entrances because Jews live in the house. Jewish schools have to close for fear of attacks. Shameful!
Berlin politicians no longer want to accept all of this. It is now finally taking action against supporters of Hamas terror and is planning numerous bans.
It remains to be hoped that these will be implemented rigorously. And it doesn’t stop with warm lip service (keyword “Never again!”) once again.
