Borussia Dortmund is bringing Nuri Sahin into the coaching team – initially as Edin Terzic’s assistant. With the personnel hammer, BVB is also preparing for a possible dismissal of the controversial head coach – FC Bayern of all companies send their regards. A comment.
Borussia Dortmund also officially confirmed the personnel on Friday afternoon.
Nur Sahin is returning to BVB together with Sven Bender as Edin Terzic’s assistant – for “new impulses” according to sports director Sebastian Kehl, but reportedly with the aim of improving the broken relationship between the coaching staff and the team.
The 35-year-old’s contract runs until June 30, 2025. The theory that Sahin, who worked successfully on the sidelines in Turkey, is now acting as an unofficial BVB shadow coach is not far-fetched.
Terzic’s already shaky position after a partially disastrous half-year will not be strengthened by Sahin’s signing, on the contrary – even if, according to the head coach, it was his “clear wish”.
FC Bayern as a role model for BVB?
From now on, after every game BVB doesn’t win, the question of a change of coach will arise even more than before. The supposedly ideal successor for Terzic already exists in our own ranks.
If the BVB bosses do not take this scenario into account in the current personnel planning, that would be extremely naive. With Sahin’s return, they are also preparing for Terzic’s dismissal should this become necessary.
Maybe Hans-Joachim Watzke and Co. were also looking towards Munich during their mind games.
When the first doubts arose about then head coach Niko Kovac in the summer of 2019, FC Bayern integrated Hansi Flick into its coaching staff.
Shortly afterwards, Kovac couldn’t go on any further, shadow coach Flick took over as head coach – and led the team straight away to the historic sixth title.
