The world’s most famous doll inspired the wardrobe of the film’s lead actress.
Australian actress Margot Robbie is like a living Barbie doll while promoting the upcoming Barbie movie. The star’s press tour outfits have featured iconic outfits directly copied from the world’s most famous doll’s wardrobe.

Of course, there is also one color in the center: Barbie’s favorite color, pink, which can be seen in almost all of Robbie’s representational outfits.

The film will premiere in Finland and worldwide in July. It was directed by the American director and actress Greta Gerwig, whose previous films include Lady Bird, Little Women and Frances Ha.

At the premiere of the film in Los Angeles, Robbie dressed identically to one of the very first Barbie dolls: a black, tulle-decorated evening dress, opera gloves and held in her hands the transparent handkerchief seen on the doll. It is a Haute Couture evening dress by the Parisian fashion house Schiaparelli. The look was inspired by the 1960 “Solo In The Spotlight” Barbie doll.

For Mexico, Margot Robbie chose a minimal dress by Emilio Pucci, an Italian fashion house known for its colorful prints. The inspiration was the 1992 “Totally Hair” Barbie doll, and in addition to the dress, this look also of course features Robbie’s blonde, long, back-length curly hairstyle. On her feet, the actress is wearing pink open-toed shoes by Manolo Blahnik and on her ears are Chanel’s striking CC earrings.
