Lijnders loses with Liverpool Champions League final | 1Limburg

Assistant coach Pepijn Lijnders from Broekhuizen has lost the final of the Champions League with Liverpool. Real Madrid won 1-0 in Paris.

Lijnders is the right-hand man of head coach Jürgen Klopp at Liverpool.

Delay
The Champions League final started with more than 35 minutes delay due to chaos around the stadium in Paris. Many fans waited a long time to get in and in some places supporters broke through security. When the game finally started, Lijnders saw that Liverpool started the game strongly and also had a number of opportunities. The biggest chance came after 20 minutes when Real goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois saved an attempt by Sadio Mane with the help of the post.

Offside
Just before half time, Real Madrid seemed to take the lead from the first chance. Karim Benzema also shot the ball into the Liverpool goal, but was soon able to stop cheering as the linesman indicated it was offside. The video referee then looked at the situation for minutes, before also disallowing the goal. As a result, it was 0-0 at halftime.

possession
At the start of the second half, Liverpool again had the most ball possession and the Klopp and Lijnders team were again the most in attack. However, it was Real Madrid that took the lead after 59 minutes via Vinicius Júnior. Liverpool then had chances to equalize, but often encountered a strong Thibaut Courtois from Bree in Belgium-Limburg. Thanks in part to his saves, Real Madrid were able to cheer after the final whistle and celebrate their fourteenth win of the Champions League.
