With The Black Series Luke Skywalker Force FX Elite Hasbro released a new Star Wars electronic lightsaber that aims to outshine all previous ones (not just because of its powerful green light). Possibly the greatest of all Jedi, Luke Skywalker, with a new weapon that can defeat any Sith or at least Gamorrean. How good is the lightsaber?
Review: The Black Series Luke Skywalker Force FX Elite Lightsaber
audio: “Zisssssshhhh”, “Pjuuuuuu”, “Wjhaaaaa”. That reads like babble, sorry! But there is no other way to put into words the sound made when Luke Skywalker’s lightsaber is ignited. In fact, it can’t be put into words. On YouTube alone there are a number of compilations dedicated to the special Skywalker sound, which sounds like an angry animal. Essentially a villain sound, but assigned to the shining hero – and which the new Hasbro lightsaber faithfully recreates. The sword is motion sensitive, so reacts to arm movements with a flawless change in sound. Clear plus with sound and movement.
Grip / Stance / Equipment: Significantly lighter than the cement chunk of Kylo Ren’s knight lightsaber. Is that good or bad? matter of taste. Certainly an advantage for children’s hands – if the parents let their children get close to the expensive piece – according to the personal feeling of the author of these lines too. Now to the big question mark with this replica: Skywalker’s movie lightsaber owes its elegant look to the candlestick-like rod socket, which narrows towards the bottom and is interrupted in the decorative line by a second socket. This handle is included, but only as an exhibit that can be placed on the stand that is included without the blade. So the LED blade cannot be anchored in the film handle, you can’t fight like that either; -There is a second grip for fighting, but it doesn’t look quite as nice. What is unfortunately not included is a kyber crystal. Star Wars fans of the first three films won’t care about the crystals anyway (they don’t really play a role in all eleven, strictly speaking) – but they are coveted collectibles and can also cause light changes on some Hasbro swords when used in them.
Service: The not really perfect Ahsoka Tano sword still in memory: the power button so long and narrow that you can only reach it with a fingernail – before you have lit your thing, you have already been stabbed by the opponent’s sword. The “Luke Skywalker Force FX Elite”, on the other hand, has an easy-to-handle push handle (the “on-off” arrows would not have been necessary) and an even wider, but still discreet push button for the lighting effects. Which we come to now.
light effects: Very convincing. Depending on how the weapon is held (diagonally, vertically or horizontally), there are three different button-activated pressure points on the blade where the light changes from green to white – so it should be suggested that the sword is open at this point hits another object.
Conclusion:
We would have a 10/10 experience with a product if you could fight with an original Skywalker replica – i.e. with a blade and the original handle. But the “B version” also looks good. Otherwise, the “Black Series Luke Skywalker Force FX Elite” convinces with excellent sound, clear LED optics and movement sensitivity: 8/10.
