Lightning verdict in the case of the merry prison grit ends in chaos

By Matthew Becker

The judicial officer Grit A. (54) and her ex-lover Damian M. (38) were accused of double bribery, trafficking in drugs in not inconsiderable quantities, and trafficking in doping and pharmaceuticals. Now the process has come to an unexpected end. A verdict with fatal consequences!

Grit A. (married, one son) has been in the judiciary for 15 years. She headed the prison workshop of the JVA Tegel. But then she fell in love with the Knacki Damian M. (single, 24 criminal records, mostly fraud and embezzlement).

Since June, she and the 2.10 meter giant are said to have smuggled cell phones, cannabis, cocaine and a tattoo machine including a needle and paint into Tegel prison in her VW. Goods worth 80,000 euros!

The case of the lively drug trade in prison and the bribery of Grit A. only came to light after an informant informed the security department of the JVA Tegel: “A blond servant” smuggled in the illegal goods via the workshop, the assembly department. The building service takes care of the rest and distributes the items to the end users by courier service.

In the process, Tegel’s head of security, Rainer K., admitted the chaos surrounding smuggling of hard drugs and mobile phones. The problem is known. He didn’t do anything to stop it. Not even after the corruption case of Knast-Grit became known.

The verdict of the Chaos Chamber: The public prosecutor demanded two years and six years in prison for Grit A. for bribery and drug trafficking – without probation!

The chamber recognized the official’s serious breach of duty, but admitted that Grit A. voluntarily handed over her mobile phone and had thus done “educational work”. Result: One year imprisonment – on probation! This means that she has lost her job for the time being, but with an appeal the verdict could easily be reduced to less than a year.

The result: Due to the huge difference between the sentence demanded by the prosecutor and the mild judgment of the chamber, an appeal must now be made.

The public prosecutor wanted five years and six months in prison for Damian M. The long-term customer of the judiciary was given five years and ten months in prison. The judge did not recognize any mitigating circumstances – despite the comprehensive admission and confession of the accused.
