The Brazilian Highway Police confirmed this Thursday that all the blockades that completely obstructed the passage on the roads of the countryorchestrated by Bolsonaro truckers who did not accept the victory of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva as president-elect, they were raised.
“All federal highways (are) free of roadblocks”said the agency in a message posted on Twitter.
According to the highway authority they were lifted 936 demonstrations that prevented passage on the main roads of the South American giant.
The Highway Police also reported that only 24 partial barriers remain in 5 of the 27 Brazilian statesthree of them located in the Brazilian Amazon -Amazonas, Pará and Roraima- as well as in Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul, bordering Bolivia and Paraguay.
After three days obstructing the country’s main highways, the blockades were rising faster this Thursday after a message from President Jair Bolsonaro, who through a video published on his social networks, on Wednesday night, asked for respect for the right of mobilization of people.
The protests began on Sunday night when the victory of Lula was known, who with 51.9% of the votes was the winner of the second round of the presidential elections in Brazil, compared to 49.1% for Bolsonaro.
The truckers’ movement began to lose steam after the current president, who was running for re-election, implicitly conceded his defeat on Tuesday, after almost two days of silence.
