“Life-threatening” storm Babet lashes Scotland: waves of six meters high and rivers can rise up to five meters

A rare red weather warning is in force in parts of Scotland, with residents of hundreds of homes evacuated due to “extraordinary” weather conditions from Storm Babet. Waves of up to six meters have been reported on the coast and rivers could rise as much as five meters. A 57-year-old woman has died after being swept away by a rushing river. Denmark, Sweden and Germany are also bracing themselves for severe weather and severe flooding.
