At the commemoration of the attacks of 22 March 2016 at Brussels Airport, not 16, but 17 victims were named for the first time. Shanti De Corte, 23, said goodbye to life via euthanasia in May last year, because she could no longer bear the psychological suffering she felt after the attacks. She experienced the explosions at the airport up close: “My body took over. I still feel guilty that I ran away from my classmates,” she told HLN in 2018.
