Life-size statement on the facade: Amsterdam café De Blaffende Vis supports Princess Amalia

A life-size statement of support for Princess Amalia: the Amsterdam café De Blaffende Vis has used its annual ‘King’s Day artwork’ on the facade this year to support Crown Prince Amalia. Amalia has been threatened for quite some time.

Princess Amalia shines this year on the case of the pub, with the text ‘Laat Me’ by Ramses Shaffy: “Because we think she deserves a nice carefree student time, just like everyone else,” says pub owner Bob Brockhoff.

The pub therefore decided to give the annual ‘wink’ with their famous artwork a serious touch.

Threats

Last October it became clear that Amalia no longer lives in her student house in Amsterdam, because there is a threat. What exactly the threat entails is not clear at this time. It is clear that it has a major impact on the life of the 19-year-old princess: she says she hardly goes out anymore.

The Amsterdam pub owner has a wish for her. “She’s been through a rough time, and we really hope she gets into calmer waters.”

A party for Amalia

Despite the fact that the facade has been on display for a few days, it will only be officially unveiled at midnight. Brockhoff: “With a light show, smoke and a singer who sings the song Laat Me, we make it a big party for her.”
