Good news for Volendam. The pub of the ‘world famous’ Spaander hotel will open again on Thursday. Spaander is famous for its impressive art collection. It was closed at the beginning of this year due to overdue maintenance. It is still unclear whether you will be able to book a room soon.
For many Volendam residents it is a thorn in the side. The large building on the dike has been closed for more than nine months no one knows why. Both the old and new owners remain tight-lipped. In the meantime, the chairs remain stacked and tourists stand in front of a closed door.
That now seems to be coming to an end. Alice Lautenschutz, an employee of the hotel, posted on Facebook this week that Spaander’s pub will open its doors again on Thursday. And Alice is also behind the tap as usual.
“Look, those are good news” and “That’s great news,” are the responses. The new owner of the building Remco Hellingman, director of the Raspberry Group, does not want to respond. If we are to believe the people of Volendam, the building, which was first owned by the Volendam Schilder family (De Hein Schilder Group (HSG)), has now been completely sold to the Raspberry Group and is no longer in Volendam hands.
Hotel also open?
It is unclear when the hotel will reopen. Lautenschutz announced via Facebook that a limited number of rooms will open soon. “The rest gets a nice update,” she writes. She doesn’t want to say more about it. At the Raspberry Group we receive no response.
