Captain Patrick Lienhard leaves FC 08 Homburg at the end of the season and returns to his training club SC Freiburg. This was officially announced by the regional league on Wednesday.
The attacking midfielder was trained in the Breisgau youth team from 2005 to 2011 and then spent two years in the second team. In this, the 29-year-old will play again after his return.
“I’m leaving the club with mixed feelings. I had five intensive years here in Homburg and a very nice time. I’ve always tried to do my best with the club,” Lienhard said of his time at FCH. “To gain a foothold with a Bundesliga club in my home country is another sporting challenge for me. That’s why the whole package of home and perspective made me take this step.”
