North Holland athletes Lieke Klaver, Nadine Visser and Jessica Schilder are confidently heading for the World Championships in Athletics. During the Diamond League match in Stockholm, Klaver finished second in the 400 meters and hurdler Visser was a fraction faster than last weekend.
Klaver had an excellent start in the 400 meters from the outside corner. The 23-year-old athlete from Enkhuizen took the lead until the 300-meter point and then saw winner Anna Kielbasinska (50.60 seconds) pass by. Klaver managed to pull through the last part well and crossed the finish line in 50.96 seconds. She finished second and again ran under 51 seconds. Nadine Visser
In the 100 meters hurdles, Nadine Visser, who started from an unfavorable track one, got off to a quick start. She was able to follow with the world top until halfway, after which she had to leave a gap. The 27-year-old hurdler from Hoogkarspel crossed the finish line in 12.76. That was one-hundredth faster than the time in which she Dutch champion on the hurdles crowned.
Jessica Painter
Where Jessica Schilder records a new Dutch record almost every week, she did not go further than 19.07 meters in Stockholm. The 22-year-old Volendam shot putter came fourth and saw the win go to Chase Ealey (20.48 meters). Last weekend, Schilder hit the NK athletics with 19.68 meters a new Dutch record†
The Diamond League match in Stockholm was the last major match before the World Athletics Championships in Eugene. The global tournament will take place in the United States from July 15 to 24.
