There’s a big fuss about construction councilor Kevin Hönicke (39, SPD) – the Lichtenberg district politician was released from duty on Monday and is no longer allowed to enter the town hall.

At 1:50 p.m. Hönicke was called to the office of district mayor Martin Schaefer (48) and was given a corresponding letter in the presence of the head of the legal office.

The reason for the exemption? “I’m not allowed to say that,” the mayor told him – Hönicke told the BZ. Then he had to hand over keys and all mobile devices. His work email account was immediately blocked.

Confusion in district politics! “First of all, I see the district mayor, as Mr. Hönicke’s superior, as having a duty to provide clarification,” said Antonio Leonhardt (Linke, 29) to the BZ. “As a district councilor, I would like to know what exactly the city council is being accused of.”
